God gave rock and roll to you… or did He?
This song, by its suckiness, constitutes a strong argument against the existence of God – a benevolent God would not allow this song to exist – and functions as its own refutation:
Thanks, if that’s the right word, to Billy the Atheist for reminding your correspondent of the existence of Petra, a band which your correspondent liked when he was a teenage fundamentalist and didn’t know any better. (The KISS version sucks slightly less.)
I like you and your blog! I wish I could give you the link to my classic rock blog, I think you’d dig it.
Years ago when I was a new Christian my pastor told me rock and roll was from the devil. I literally feel sick thinking back to the day I tossed out my LIFELONG COLLECTION OF ROCK AND ROLL VINYL ALBUMS. Sh*T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I took me years and tons of money to rebuild my collection. Music sustains me…rock music.

When I was in my senior year of high school – still Christian, by the way – my uncle asked me if I listened to Christian rock. I said no, because I listened to N.W.A. and Metallica and Guns N’ Roses. He said that was good, because Christian music was Christian in name only; the words may be about God, but the beat was about worshipping the devil and homosexuality (!).
Man, bummer about losing your music. And thanks for the compliment!
